Obituary

Maureen Pelham Thweatt, 85, of Panama City Beach, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2023. While the family mourns their loss, the certainty of Maureen's eternal salvation brings them great comfort, peace, and joy.

Maureen was born May 2, 1937. She treasured being a homemaker and creating a loving home and being available full time for her husband of 67 years, her 3 children, and 5 grandchildren. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother and a wonderful seamstress and cook.  She lived each day with charm, elegance, and flawless manners. Maureen designed and created gowns and uniforms for Sorority events, Cheerleading, and Majorette competitions.  She was tremendously talented.  Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Maureen was a charter member of Seagrove Baptist Church and one of the founding members of this church over 25 years ago that met in a garage and determined the Seagrove community needed more Jesus.  Apart from her family, it was her greatest joy to serve the Lord in her church. She was known for her sweet, selfless, and welcoming spirit. She was always serving others, volunteering her time at her church, and pointing everyone she met to Jesus.  She leaves a legacy of character and faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Gladys Pelham, and her sister Joanne Carnley (Virgil).  She is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Thweatt; and her three children: Nancy (Todd) Thomas, Bill Thweatt, and Nina (Chris) Irish; her five grandchildren: Krista Irish, Katie Irish, Patrick Irish, Meghan Thweatt and Travis Thweatt; and her brother, Randy Pelham.

She will be placed at rest at Arlington National Cemetery with a private family ceremony celebrating her life and homecoming.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Seagrove Baptist Church, 4915 E. County Highway 30A, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
