Mary Francis Shores, 92, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018. Mary Francis was born February 18, 1925 in Warrior, Alabama. Her parents were Edward Lee Miller and Jessie Wister Champion Miller. She moved to Panama City as young child and resided in Parker for the remainder of her life. She was a 1943 graduate of Bay High School and a 1950 graduate of Florida State University. Mary Francis taught for 32 years in the Bay County School system with the majority spent as a 3 rd grade teacher at Parker Elementary School. She and her husband were founding members of the First Baptist Church of Parker where she taught Sunday School and was an integral part of Vacation Bible School. She was a life time member of Parker Chapter Number 96, Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James Daniel Shores; one son, Kim Shores (Debi) of Slocomb, AL; one daughter, Kay Shores Thomas of Panama City; three grandchildren, Melissa Shores Barnes (Scott), Courtney Davis, Joshua Shores; two great grandchildren, Corbin Reid Anderson, Olivia Leigh Barnes. She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Thomas of Panama City and a host of nieces and nephews she cherished. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 12:00 pm followed by funeral services at Wilson Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Covenant Hospice or your charity of choice.
