Mary Augusta "Gus" Kracke, 73 of Panama City died Friday, January 25, 2008, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1968, moving from Pensacola. Mrs. Kracke was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 12, 1934. She graduated from Auburn University and taught English at Bay High School for 27 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City where she taught Sunday school since 1969. She was also a member of the Bay County Retired Teachers' Association. She is survived by her husband, Henry M. Kracke of Panama City, a son, Larry Kracke and wife, Beverly, of Birmingham, Alabama and a daughter, Karen Martin of Panama City, 3 granddaughters, Ashley Kracke, Analyn Kracke and Abbey Kracke, and a sister, Jane Turner and husband, Bill, of Jacksonville, Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Kracke will be held Monday, January 28, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Panama City with Dr. Craig Conner, the Rev. Bill Sears and the Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church or the Gideons. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the ICU nurses at Gulf Coast Hospital for their loving care of Mrs. Kracke.
