MARY JOAN KOEHNEMANN KELLEY
Mary Joan Huber Koehnemann Kelley, 86, of Lynn Haven, Florida died Thursday, February 9, 2012 in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 29, 1925 in Tuscola, IL to R.S. and Katherine Huber. She attended school in Tuscola, IL where she was a member of the National Honor Society, editor of her high school's newspaper and yearbook and active in sports. She attended Rosary College in River Forest, IL, where she was president of the athletic association. She was twice women's golf champion of the Tuscola Country Club. She married Robert E. Koehnemann on May 4, 1946. She and her husband founded the Koehnemann Furniture Co. in Tuscola. They moved to Panama City in 1969, where she continued as an Interior Designer of Carriage Lane, which she and her husband owned. She was a member of St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club, was devoted to tennis and golf and an active member of the Panama Country Club ladies auxiliary. She was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church.
Mr. Koehnemann died April, 8, 1991 as a result of a motorcycle accident. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dan, (a victim of a highway accident); infant grandchild, Patrick Matthew; and brother, William Huber.
She married Roger T. Kelley of Peoria, IL on Sept. 25, 1993. Mr. Kelley died on October 4, 2006 in Panama City.
She is survived by two sons, Rick Koehnemann (Neda), of Panama City Beach, Rob Koehnemann (Lynn) of Seagrove Beach, FL; two daughters, Kit Koehnemann Samford of Birmingham, AL and Karen Koehnemann McElheney (Randall) of Panama City, FL; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the St. Dominic Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 9 – 10 a.m.
on Monday.
