1926 - 2023

Mary "Frances" Gilbert, 97, affectionally known as "Granny", of Panama City, Florida, peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on Monday, November 6, 2023.  She was born on September 27, 1926 in Bainbridge, Georgia, the daughter of George and Collie Mae (Alday) Earnest, who predeceased her as well as her brothers Sidney, Gans and Chalmos.  Frances was a devoted and Godly wife, precious mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher of the word of God and special friend to many.

The most important treasure of her earthly life was her close and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.  This was truly characterized by her faithful prayer life, participation in various Christian ministries, and teaching of the Bible for over 50 years in both Parkway Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida and First Baptist Church of Panama City, Florida.  Her second most important earthly treasure was her relationship with her family, as well as the close and dear friendships she shared.

Frances was married to her best friend, the love of her life, and devoted husband of 58 years, Bill Gilbert, who preceded her to heaven in 2007.  She is survived by her daughter Joy Bates (husband Bob) and son William T. Gilbert (wife Kathy); grandchildren Jennifer Saada (husband Daniel), Erin Moye (husband Pat), Jordan Allen (husband Steve), and Carlyn Gilbert (fiancé Matthew Morel); her precious great grandsons Jefferson, Billy, and Connor; as well as a host of other special relatives and cherished friends.

Frances Gilbert leaves behind a legacy of faith and unconditional love which her life certainly exemplified.  A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in the Parker Cemetery.
