Mary Bruce Carney, 87, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, of Panama City Beach, FL peacefully passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021. She was born on January 21, 1933, in New York, New York. Mary is survived by her four children: Doug (Kelly) Carney, Linda (Jonathan) Masker, Sharon (Stan) Kniezewski, and Cindy (Dan) Satink. She was loved by her 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: Alexandra, Katy, Jordan, Austin, Braden, Kara, Mari, Kevin, Amy, Jessica, Chandler, Penelope and Matthew. Born and raised in Forrest Hills, New York, Mary graduated from Columbia Presbyterian School of Nursing in 1955.  Mary enjoyed a long nursing career with 18 years in critical care nursing while raising her family in Cleveland, Ohio.  She ended her career by providing geriatric nursing care including rehab and sub acute units. Mary was very spiritual, growing up in the Episcopal Church and singing soprano with the choir.  She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church for many years before joining St. Thomas By the Sea, where she was a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King and served as President of the Episcopal Church Women.  She attended the University of the South School of Theology, completing the program of Theological Education by Extension Education for Ministry.  During her retirement, Mary enjoyed knitting for her friends and family as part of The Sea Needles group and was always ready to knit a prayer shawl for whomever had need for comfort.  She was an active supporter of the Miracle League and committed to helping anyone in need.

She found peace by sitting on her porch, watching the birds and the beautiful sunsets over the lagoon. She kept her mind active by reading, completing crossword puzzles and keeping up with her family and friends. She never met a stranger because she always made the time to talk and ask people how they were doing; from her family at Publix, her family at the gym and her family at church.  She was so very loved!

An outdoor memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 2:00 at St. Thomas By the Sea. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Miracle League in Panama City Beach and St. Thomas By the Sea.
