Obituary

Mary Jane "Sully" Sutton Beirise, 89, of Lynn Haven, FL passed away on June 3, 2018. She was born on June 21, 1929 in Dubuque, Iowa to Morris and Thelma Sullivan. After high school, she was one of the first recruits from Iowa to join the Woman's Air Force where she met her first husband Charles, the father of her children. Sully loved being a wife, mother, friend, and Catholic catechism teacher; excelling at all of these as her husbands, children, friends, and students would attest. After living in several states and England, she and Charles settled in Panama City where Sully lived a very active life as a grandmother, a member of the Art Association, and a lifetime member of the Women's Club. As a devout Catholic, Sully was a catechism teacher at St. John and a lector at St. Bernadette, where she and her second husband, Jim, met and served as eucharistic ministers. In her spare time, she was an avid gardener and artist. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Junior Sutton and James Beirise; one brother, Eugene Sullivan. She is survived by four children, Charles M. Sutton, Jeffery L. Sutton, Susanne J. Perla (Lee), Gregory J. Sutton (Lisa); six grandchildren, Jennifer Perla(John), Mark Meyer (Stephanie), Jessica McBride (Frank), Lauren Wells (Matt), Savannah Gorman (Justin), Aaron Sutton (Brittanie); five great grandchildren, Anthony Meyer, Emma Sutton, Savannah Perla, Ryker Wells, Logan McBride; eight step children, Steve, Ann, Jean, Mary, Mike, Susan, Tim, Karen; one brother, Dennis Sullivan (Cyndee); one sister, Carol Holms (Hugh); numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 8, 2018 at 11am in the St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Father Ted officiating. The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday night from 5-7 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm. Interment will be held in the Cecil Cemetery in Pennington Gap, VA at a later date.
