Mary Winifred Aitchison Davenport died on Friday September 25, 2020 in Panama City Florida surrounded by family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bert Davenport, her parents, Dagmar and Robert Aitchison, her sisters, Beverly Freund and Dagmar Trachsel and her daughter, Debbie Davenport.

She is survived by her daughters, Dagmar Davenport and Pat Davenport, and her amazing caregivers who were always there for her Jan, Janice, Karen, Maureen, & Roberta.

Mary was born November 7, 1923 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Dagmar and Robert Aitchison. She spent her youth and early life in New York where she graduated from Barnard College Columbia University in June of 1945.

She met Bert Davenport at a USO dance in New York City while World War II was raging.  They married when the war ended and moved to Miami, Florida where Bert earned his law degree.  Mary and Bert relocated to Panama City, Florida where they made their home for over 70 years.  Bert practiced law and Mary was a social worker for the Department of Children and Families.

Mary traveled extensively with Bert and Dagmar.  She loved to entertain her friends and family. Visiting Scotland was on Mary's bucket list.  She made the trip to Scotland with her daughter and friends in the fall of 2019 at the age of 95.

Mary was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church where she was instrumental in starting St. Mary's Guild in the 1950's.  She was a member of the Panama City Women's Club and the St Andrews Bay Yacht Club.  She was avid bridge player and she loved to dance with Bert.

Her life was full and rich with friends and family. She loved gardening, animals, and giving book reports. She loved life.  Really, she simply loved life.

Memorial services will be held at St. Andrew Episcopal Church on Friday October 2 ^nd at 10:00 AM

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Andrews Episcopal Church or the Bay County Public Library.
