DR. MARVIN LUVERNE HODSON
Dr. Marvin Luverne Hodson, 89, of Belleair, FL, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 in Panama City. He was born April 12, 1920 at St. Paul Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota to Harry Luverne Hodson and Maude Evelyn Hart Hodson. Marvin was primarily raised in Cumberland, Wisconsin, where his father ran a meat market. Marvin was an excellent athlete and enjoyed hockey, basketball and football and played for his high school team. He graduated from Cumberland High School, and from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. In 1943, he graduated from Still College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa and completed his medical residency in Saginaw, Michigan. He practiced family medicine in Clemons Iowa, Jewell Iowa and Belleair, FL, where he was on active staff with surgical privileges at Sun Coast Hospital until his retirement at the age of 70. His true love was hunting ducks with family and friends. Marvin was extremely civic minded with numerous organizations. He was very active in the Lions Club, Rotary Club and the Masonic Lodge, where he received his 50 year pin. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorris Bork and brother-in-law, Glen Bork. He is survived by his lovely wife of 66 years, Patricia Louise Hodson; daughter, Connie Louise Scadran; son, Dr. Larry Luverne Hodson and wife, Becky; special granddaughters, Dawn Louise Galbraith, Kelly Lara Ann Hodson; grandsons, Dr. Sean Charles Luverne Hodson, Daniel Clark; and four great grandchildren, Kira Grace Galbraith, Elise Louise Galbraith, Shane Clark and Hunter Clark. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Warren officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service. Entombment will be held on Monday, October 26 at 3 p.m. EDT in the Chapel Mausoleum of Serenity Gardens in Largo, Florida.
