Obituary

Martin E. ("Bubba") Waldorff, Jr., of Opp, AL, passed away early in the morning on January 29, 2024.

Bubba was born in Panama City, FL, on September 12, 1943, graduated from Bay High School in 1961, and served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1964. He and his wife, Becky, married in 1966, and they lived in Panama City until they moved to Wewahitchka in 1974 and made that their home for the next 45 years. He enjoyed fishing in the Chipola River and floundering and mullet fishing along the waters of Indian Pass with his good friend, Charles Borders. He worked in maintenance at St. Joe Paper Company for 32 years and later at Woods' Fisheries in Port St. Joe until he officially retired in 2013. In his retired years, he enjoyed traveling with Becky, especially to Yellowstone National Park and the mountains of Montana. He was an active member and deacon at First Baptist Church for many years but made Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Wewahitchka his church home shortly before moving to Opp, Alabama, after his diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease, so that he could be nearer to his brother, Joe, and his wife, Judy, who were such a blessing to him and Becky in his final days. Soon after moving to Opp, Bubba joined Westview Baptist Church. He worked hard for his family for most of his life and in his later years, he especially loved spending time with his granddaughter, Amelia, and watching her perform on stage and listening to her sing.

Bubba is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Marietta Coulliette Waldorff. He is survived by his wife, Becky; his daughter, Amy Lister (Darryl) and granddaughter, Amelia, of Cumming, GA; his sister, Azalea Gore (Marshall) of Chipley, FL; his brothers Joe Waldorff (Judy) of Opp, AL, and Tim Waldorff (Winnifred) of Clarksville, FL; his brother-in-law Len Jernigan and special nephew, Larson, of Bagdad, FL; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Wewahitchka, Florida, at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 1, with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m. A short graveside service will follow at Buckhorn Cemetery.
