Martha Ann McKeand Jones

On April 30, 1932, this world welcomed in Martha Ann McKeand Jones and on January 20, 2022, Martha, at the age of 89, entered into eternal life and is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father.

Martha Ann was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Peter and Mary Elizabeth McKeand. She was the middle daughter of four children, all who preceded her into Heaven, Jack McKeand, Robert McKeand and Sarah Hamby.  Martha graduated from Phillips High School, Class of 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Martha Ann married the late Charles Edward Jones in July 1950 at First Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama and together they had 3 children, Terry, Kimpa and Mary Margaret.

To know Martha, was truly to love her and anyone who knew her, knew such words to ring true and described "sweet Ms. Martha" as a real angel here on earth.  She lived her life with an undeniable joy which was evident by the precious friends she surround her self with and how she chose to life life fully.  In her 60's and 70's, she still chased after moments and memories that brought her happiness by traveling abroad to Paris, Scotland and Italy.  Martha Ann, always radiant and perfectly polished, had a social calendar that was always full and her numerous weekly lunch dates were always a highlight she looked forward to. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Panama City, Florida for over 30 years, a member of Bay County Republican Women's Club, Women's Yacht Club and Women's Club of Panama City. Martha Ann had an infectious love for Jesus Christ which she shared with others in different way whether it was by teaching English or sharing her experiences with young ladies in shelters.

Martha Ann leave a legacy behind and is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who all brought her such joy and fulfillment; children: Terry Jones, Kimpa Moffatt (Scott) and Mary Margaret Strong; 5 grandchildren: Corey Jones (Crystal), Wesleyann McMullen (Tyler), Afton Petrie (Timothy), Haley Helbling (Chad), and McKeand Strong; 11 great grandchildren: Kelley McKeand, Thompson Everett, Ann Clarke Abercrombie, Brayden Harter, Liam Beck, Powell Jones, London James, Kellan Scott, Rory Lynn, Lochlan Briggs and another little one on the way.

A celebration of Life is Scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25th at First Baptist Church, Panama City, Florida. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.  Private family interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
