MARLIN JAMES LAND
Marlin James Land, 42, of Panama City Beach, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009. He was born December 23, 1966 in Pensacola, FL. Before pursuing his career as a private boat captain, Marlin was employed by Winn-Dixie for 17 years. However, his love for fishing and the sea prompted him to obtain his captains license and leave the corporate world for a life as a private boat captain. Those who had the pleasure of spending time with Marlin remember his infectious smile and large personality. His jovial spirit and adventurous lifestyle lead to numerous friends, both home and abroad. Marlin will forever be loved and cherished by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Josephine Land. He is survived by his wife, Angela Slappy Land; two brothers, Bobby Land and wife, Mary; Alan Land and wife, Karen; sister, Angel Wallace and husband, Daryl; mother & father-in-law, Peggy & Brian Slappy; sister-in-law, Lisa Clark and husband, John and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Panama City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlin's name are being accepted at The Billfish Foundation and the March of Dimes.
