MARJORIE YEOMANS KNOWLES

Marjorie Yeomans Knowles, 91, of Panama City, passed away November 25, 2009. She was born July 23, 1918, in Vidalia, GA. Her abilities were diverse. She operated a catering service in Vidalia, was a fraternity House Mother in Atlanta, and had been Food Service Director for a large Atlanta church. She was a resident of Panama City for 25 years, moving here from Campbellton, FL. "Mar," as she was known to her many friends, was a creative craftswoman and won numerous ribbons over the years at the Bay County Fair for her cakes and preserves. Her house was always open to family and friends for meals and visits but mostly for engaging in lively conversations about the weather, religion, politics, and fishing. Mar loved all kinds of fishing and was ready to challenge her fishing partners to a contest. She liked to report that she usually won. Marjorie was preceded in death by her son, Chris McNatt. She is survived by three nephews, Robert Stapleton and wife, Judy; Dr. Sidney Stapleton and wife Linda; Arthur Emrich and wife Joan; niece, Beverly Brown and husband Doug; and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date at the Pine Crest Cemetery in Vidalia, GA. Those desiring to, may make a contribution to the charity of their choice in memory of Marjorie Knowles.
