Margie Campbell Jones, 70, of Panama City passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born July 19, 1942 in Hartford, Alabama. She graduated from Bay High School in 1960 and from Gulf Coast Junior College in one of the college's first graduating classes.
While attending school, she was employed at the Martin Theater in the box office. Soon after graduation, she began her federal career first at Tyndall Air Force Base and retiring from Naval Surface Warfare Center after 38 years. While working at the Navy Base, she met and married the love of her life, John M. Jones.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Campbell Sawyer, her sister Martha Sue Campbell, and special in-laws Dot and Travis Peak.
Margie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, John M. Jones; her son, Scott Jones; her daughter, Christy Morcate (Joe); 3 grandchildren, Jared Jones, Kelly Nicole Jones, and Jackson Morcate; 3 brothers, Jerald Campbell, Harold Campbell, and Terry Campbell (Susan); stepfather, J.L. Sawyer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Virgil Tillman officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8pm Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Rolan Peak, Joel Peak, Jasper Jasperson, Jon Miller, Kenneth Jones, Jimmy Jones, Neel Campbell, and Kolby Maddox. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Haddock, Clarence Hand, Bunyan Thomas, and Marion Daniels.
