Magdalina Becker Callipo, age 93, of Lynn Haven, FL passed into the arms of her heavenly father on January 14, 2018 at Bay Medical Covenant Hospice, Panama City, FL. Magda was born on April 11, 1924 in Trier, Germany to Johann Becker and Katherine (Braband) Becker. She grew up in World War II when times were very hard and worked in the vineyards along the Mosel to help her family rebuild their home.  After the war, Magda, was given a sponsor in the U.S. She came through Ellis Island and became a Nanny in Tampa, FL. Magda met her 1 st husband and became a military wife traveling many places before settling at Compass Lake. She worked at Chipley Garment Plant and when it closed she moved to Panama City to work at Margaret Fashions. She met her second husband, Gene Callipo, a retired Navy Captain and settled in Lynn Haven and became a housewife. Magda had many talents. She made her clothes, knitted beautiful wool sweaters for herself and many of her friends. She also loved to make rugs and you can see them displayed in many of her friend's homes. Magda also liked to "garage hop" as she called it, on Saturdays looking for a treasure. Magda, is a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, the Shriners "Classic Ladies" and is a lifetime member of the Health Plex. She also attended the Lynn Haven Senior Center before she became sick. Magda was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ike Campbell, Gene Callipo; two brothers, Peter Becker, Hans Becker; three sisters, Anni Becker, Rosa Bastion, Maria Becker; cousins, Hilda Burkard, Hans- Peter Becker, Werner Becker, Jo Becker and Karli Becker. She is survived by her nieces, Ellen Haag and children, Christian and Nikolas of Trier, Germany, Brigit Kollhoff (Gerald) and children, Jennifer and Fabian of Freiburg, Germany, Ingrid Schweitzer and children, Andrea and Kerstin of Trier, Germany, Rosi Frankreitir and children, Hildegard Frankreitir and children, Alwine Funck (Klaus), Irmi Koenen (Ralph) and nephew, Edmund Burkard; special friends, Pat Bovard and Sherry Smithson. Everyone needs to have a Magda in their life. She was always such a happy, positive person. She just loved life! And of all her positive qualities her most profound was that she was "proud to be an American." If you ever met Magda once, you will never forget her.
