Obituary

Louverne Hall Barron, 93, of Panama City passed from this life on May 16, 2019 in Defuniak Springs, FL. She was born February 21, 1926 in Graceville, Florida. She moved to Chicago at the age of 20 to begin her career. She sang jazz in Chicago night clubs with the likes of Billie Holiday. She met young Dempsey Barron and was married to him for 50 years. She worked at Sudduth Realty while he was in Law School in Gainesville, FL. Later she was First Lady of the Florida Senate while Dempsey was President of the Senate. She entertained many people at their home on St. Andrew Bay. Two sons were born to this marriage. Later in life she was recruited to work at FSU Panama City creating scholarships. Because of her work and dedication there many young people received scholarships enabling them to attend college at the beautiful FSU Panama City campus. Louverne was predeceased by her father, James Ervin Hall, mother, Nellie Jane Elmore Hall, her son, Steve Barron and all but two of her siblings. She is survived by her son, Stuart Barron, granddaughter, Shannon Remmer; daughter-in-law, Diane, brother, Levi Hall (Margaret); sister, Betty McAdams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives. For 50 years plus, Louverne has enjoyed her friends at her Wednesday Lunch Brunch. She will be greatly missed by this group of friends. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Beulah Church Cemetery, Graceville, FL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
