LOUISE WOOTEN DANZEY

Louise Wooten Danzey passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010. She was born on September 24, 1920 in LaGrange, Georgia. Mrs. Danzey had been a resident of Panama City since 1942. From 1949 – 1965, she and her late husband, Byron, owned and operated the Super Feed Store in Millville. She later went to work for Sunshine-Jr, Inc. until her retirement. Mrs. Danzey was a member of First Baptist Church and sang in the choir for 53 years. She was past president and life member of the Lions Club Auxiliary. She was formally a member of the Junior Woman's Club and Panama City Woman's Club. She was a volunteer at Bay Medical Center and a Red Cross Volunteer at Bay High School. She has been a faithful friend to many and will be sorely missed. She is survived by three loving children, Lynda Lou Simmons, Sarah Ann Gay, Ron Danzey; son-in-law, John P. Gay; daughter-in-law, Theresa Danzey; five grandchildren, Darby & Shannon Gay, Brian & Kiersten Simmons, Penny & Lee Bott, Mary Challeil & Jason Turner, Andrew & Carolyne Danzey; great grandchildren, Kai, Kayla and Fletcher Simmons; Sarah Brannen, Jon Darby, Jake and Jarret Gay; Joshua, Abigail, Jacob and Hannah Bott, Mary Turner and Emma Catherine Danzey; brother, Tom G. Wooten; and her friend of 67 years, Myrtle Walker. Memorial services will be held on her 90th birthday, September 24, 2010 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Panama City. The family will receive immediately following the service. Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Danzey to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32402. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons, Brian Simmons, Kai Simmons, Fletcher Simmons, Darby Gay, Jon Darby Gay, Joshua Bott, Jacob Bott and Andrew Danzey. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Mathison Retirement Center for their kind and loving attention to mama. She enjoyed her life at Mathison, making new friends, learning to play Bingo and Bunko, and sharing her cheerfulness and encouragement to all.
