Loucile Lundy Volk, 96, passed away on November 27, 2017 at Sandy Ridge Health and Rehabilitation in Milton, FL. She was born on June 3, 1921, in Shellhorn, AL to Allen T. and Jennie McLeod Lundy. The family later moved to Livingston, AL, where Mrs. Volk graduated from high school as the Valedictorian of her class.
Mrs. Volk moved to Panama City after the beginning of World War II to work as a secretary at Tyndall Field. It was there that she met her future husband, William Edward Volk, of Cincinnati. They were married on June 11, 1944 at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Panama City, and made their home in Panama City after his service in the U.S. Army Air Corps ended.
While living in Panama City, Mrs. Volk was employed in the office products industry and spent 39 years working at Boyd Brothers, Inc. She was a member of many civic organizations and served as president of The Pilot Club of Panama City, the Altrusa Club, the Girl's Club and the Woman's Club of Panama City. She was the first woman president of the Florida Office Products Association and advanced to serve as the first woman Lt. Governor of that organization. Other organizations and offices include: member of the St. Andrews Kiwanis Club, District Director of the General Federation of Woman's Clubs in Florida, secretary/treasurer of the Bay County Democratic Executive Committee, recording secretary of the Anchorage Children's Home, District Americanism chairman, District chairman and state vice chairman of the Lodge Activities Committee of Florida Elks. She was involved in the organization of the Girl's Club and first local hospice.
After the death of her husband in 2002, she moved to Pensacola to pursue her hobby of ballroom dancing and enjoyed the activities at the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Warrington Lodge #2108 prior to her incapacitation.
Mrs. Volk is survived by her daughter, Victoria Bennett and son-in-law, Robert G. Bennett III of Cumming, GA, one niece and seven nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, William E. Volk; her parents; sisters Grace Tackett, Mildred Jernigan Lukens and Jennie Ray Hutcheson; brothers Dr. Talmadge Lundy and Calvin Lundy.
The funeral service for Mrs. Volk will be Saturday December 2, 2017 at 11 am at Wilson Funeral Home in Panama City. There will be a one hour visitation from 10-11 am at the funeral home prior to the service.
