LEWIS W. "BILL" FUSSELL

Lewis W. "Bill" Fussell, 93, of Panama City, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010. He was born October 22, 1916 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1957 moving here from Illinois. He was retired from the United States Air Force, 8 years with the military and 23 years with civil service. He was an active member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Panama City. He was a member of the American Legion Post 66 and the NARFE Chapter 1305. He served as Mayor of Cedar Grove and was National Vice President of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ava C. Fussell. He is survived by a son, William C. Fussell and wife, Glenda; daughter, Elizabeth Shepherd and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Derek and Karla Fussell, Alison and Kris Latham; Leanne and Andy Hussion, Melissa and Chris Cooper; and great grandchildren, Laura Fussell, Christopher Fussell, Jacob Latham, Natalie Latham and Molly Anne Cooper. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Panama City with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 3 p.m. EDT in the Collins Family Cemetery, Cairo, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32402 or to Camo Dreams, Inc., 6618 Nadine Road, Panama City, Florida 32404 (a non-profit charitable organization created by his grandson, Derek Fussell, to provide handicapped and terminally ill children with dream outdoor experiences.)
