Leslie Venus Baker
October 12, 1957 - February 26, 2025

"And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away, and be at rest." Psalms 55:6

Leslie Venus Baker joined God's heavenly choir, when she passed away peacefully at home in Panama City, Florida, on February 26, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born on October 12, 1957, in Greenville, Michigan, Leslie later made her home in Panama City, where she found joy and solace in the natural world. Whether sailing across open waters or observing birds in quiet reverence, she embraced the beauty of life with a gentle spirit. Her love for nature and time spent with loved ones, especially her three year old grandson Hank, created treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Leslie is lovingly remembered by her husband, George Baker; her son, Morgan Baker; her daughter, Erin Barnfield, and her husband, Chris; and her beloved grandson, Hank. She is survived by; her brother, Mike Venus, and his wife, Cindy; her sister, Lynn Burns, and her husband, Paul; her sister-in-law, Lynn Bohnert; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In honor of Leslie's deep connection to nature and Christian service, she served on two boards, donations may be made to the Bay County Audubon Society, PO Box 1182, Panama City, GL 32402. Or Titus 2 Partnership, 1919 Maine Avenue, Lynn Haven, FL 32444.

Each year, Leslie would write a Christmas Poem to, "Twas the Night Before Christmas." Leslie's good friend Katie Kelly, using AI, wrote the following:

'Twas the night she took flight, to the heavens so high,
Where the songbirds now greet her in an endless blue sky.
With wings made of memories, love, and delight,
She soared to her Savior, he was robed in pure light.

She watched for the birds with a keen, joyful eye,
Each feathered friend dancing high up in the sky.
Now they sing in her honor, a melody sweet,
A chorus of love where the earth and sky meet.

Her grandson, dear Hank, was her heart's greatest cheer,
His laughter, her joy, so precious, so clear.
Her children, dear Erin and Morgan, so bright,
Carry her love in the day and the night.

And George, her dear love, her partner, her friend,
Their story was timeless, with no real end.
For love like hers lingers, it never can fade,
It's woven in moments, in memories made.

So though we will miss her, her warmth and her grace,
Her spirit still lives in each fond, loving place.
And when the night falls, so silent and deep,
She whispers, "I'm with you, in dreams as you sleep."

May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who carry her in their hearts.

Numbers 6
24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
