LeRoy Bailey
1938-2008

LeRoy Bailey, age 70, of Lynn Haven, FL passed away on November 10, 2008 with his family by his side. He was born on November 2, 1938 in Lake City, FL to Alexander and Lillie Mae Bailey. He was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Richardson High School, Lake City, FL in 1956 and joined the U. S. Air Force shortly thereafter. After a twenty year air force career, he went to work in Civil Service until his retirement in 2000. He was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Bailey and his beloved maternal grandparents Frank and Gertrude Blue.

He is survived by his wife Gayle Blanton Bailey, a son, Craig Bailey of Melbourne, FL and daughter, Carla Bailey Brown (Charles) of Snellville, GA, daughters by marriage, Laramie Hitt of Middlebury, CT and Paris Petty of Chicago, IL and grandchildren Amber Hitt and Eben Hitt. He is also survived by his mother Lillie Mae Bailey of Lake City, FL, a brother, Louis Bailey, sisters, Zola Dubose of Pensacola, FL, Betty James (Andrew) of Gainesville, FL, aunt, Altermease Bailey of Jacksonville, FL, uncle, James (Fred) Bailey (Annie) of Jacksonville, FL and nieces, Renita Bailey, and Shanee Bailey, nephews, Darrell Bailey and Andrew James, Jr., cousins, Laura (Penny) Deary (Robert), Juanita McCreary, and a host of other friends and family.

LeRoy was an avid golfer who participated in frequent charity golf events benefiting children's charities. Other interests included karaoke singing, ballroom dancing and ballroom dance instructor.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 15 at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Heritage Gardens in Niceville, FL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2012 A, Lisenby Avenue, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of LeRoy Bailey.
