LEONA STRICKLAND SANDERS

Leona Strickland Sanders, 94, of Callaway, was called to meet the Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2009. She was born February 29, 1915 in Millville and had been a lifelong resident of Panama City. She was a homemaker. She was very loved and will be greatly missed by those here on earth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Otho Sanders, son, Billy Sanders, grandson, Brian A. Sanders, sister, Neeta Burkett and four brothers, Harley Strickland, Morris Strickland, J.B. Strickland and Horace Strickland. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Melvin and husband Roger, of Panama City; three sons, Carl Luvon Sanders, of Houston, TX, Alvin Sanders and wife Brenda, Julius Sanders and wife Margaret, all of Panama City; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Shirley Sanders. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Callaway Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service.
