Lee Norman Mattern, age 87 of Panama City, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born in Beaver Springs, PA in 1934 to Christian parents Marion Frank Mattern and Jennie Victoria Gross Mattern. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christ Evangelical Reformed Church, later joining the PCA Presbyterian Church in Panama City.
After graduating from Beaver Springs High School in 1952 he joined the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Seoul. His concern for the children led his mother and the Women in the Church to send boxes of blankets and clothing that he then distributed to a local orphanage. He always loved life and others, especially children.
He worked for the Postal Service, retiring in 1992. He considered every patron his friend. He was fiercely devoted to his family and loved and served Jesus Christ with all his heart. Despite his later physical challenges, he always trusted his Lord and Savior.
