Lawrence Sowell, 92, of West Bay, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022.  He was born March 13, 1929 in West Bay.  He was a retired tug boat captain.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Sowell and a son, Larry Sowell.  He is survived by two children, James "Jim" Sowell; Linda Sowell Sitterson; two grandchildren, Leslie, Renee ; brother, James A. Sowell (Linda); sister, Mamie Goines and numerous nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the West Bay Holiness Community Church with Rev. Roger Dale Hagan officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon-1 p.m. prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the West Bay Cemetery.
