Obituary

LAURICE TALMADGE HAND, SR.

Laurice Talmadge Hand Sr., 86, of Panama City, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Sims Veteran's Nursing Home, where he resided for the past three years. L.T. was born on December 6, 1925 in Panama City and had been a lifelong resident of the area. He served three years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was happiest when he was fishing and shrimping with his beloved wife by his side on the boat he built. L.T. had his own meat market and grocery store for many years. Followed by obtaining his shipping license and was captain of supply boats transporting supplies in the Gulf of Mexico. He then retired to spend more time with his family. He was very proud to be a master mason throughout his adult life. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances Louise Hand; one son, Laurice T. Hand, Jr; parents, John J. & Annie Barnes Hand; and one sister, Mary Price. L.T. is survived by his two daughters, Frances Elaine Hand of Wimberley, TX and Christmas Carol Hand of Panama City; one sister, Willie Ann Miller of Panama City; one brother, Don Hand and wife Mary of Lecanto, FL; and brother-in-law, John Price. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. and on Friday from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Millville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dickie Anderson, Tommy Price, Clark Fowhand, Sr. and Roy Markham. Honorary pallbearer will be Don Hand. It is with deep gratitude that we express heartfelt thanks to our family and friends for the many expressions of kindness and help you have shown to our father. May God richly bless each of you for the love and kindness that you expressed to us. The family would like to thank the Sims VA Nursing Home for all of their care and kindness given to our father over his years of residence. All of you made his life fuller and richer on a daily basis. We would also like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for their compassion in the comfort care given to our father. May God bless you all.
