Laura Caswell Jenkins, age 77, died on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at home in Lynn Haven, FL. She was born on October 30, 1939 in Tarpon Springs, FL, growing up in the Panama City, FL area.

Laura was a graduate of Bay High and graduated from Florida State University in 1960. She went on to receive a Masters Degree at the University of Alabama in 1970. She lived in Memphis, TN and was a school teacher for 35 years at schools including Mt. Pisgah and Alturia in Shelby County, TN, where she worked until her retirement.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. William M. Jenkins, her mother, Ruth Caswell, her children Elizabeth Cunningham (Troy) and Gregory Jenkins (Andreia), two grand children, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Johnnie Caswell and brother Russell Caswell.

Laura was a loving wife and mother and dedicated school teacher, known for her kindness and acceptance of others. She was generous with her time and always available to help a friend or family member in need. Her friends and family consider her to be the sweetest person they have ever known. She visited her mother Ruth and several others at the Community Health & Rehab nursing home several times a week, up until the day she died. She was a pillar of emotional strength and calm and a constant rock upon which her family depended.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Wilson Funeral Home.
