Obituary

Larry Eugene Armstrong, 70, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 16, 2015. Larry was a lifelong resident of Panama City; born to Hazel and Eugene Armstrong and brother to Linda (Greg) Johnson and Kathy Weaver and brother-in-law to Chris Wilson. He is survived by the love of his life, Amy Wilson Armstrong; sons, Parker Armstrong (Kelley), and Nicholas Armstrong (Lauren); daughter, Courtney Clemens; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was also the adored PaPa of Kyser Clemens, Ally Taylor Armstrong and Ava Elise Armstrong.

Larry was a graduate of Bay High School, Class of 1962, earned a Bachelor's degree in Finance at the University of Alabama, Class of 1966, and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was an astute businessman and salesman of fine jewelry and fine art, the co-founder of the American Masters Foundation in Houston, TX, as well as the managing partner of the Chateau Motel in Panama City Beach. He was a member of St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club, a devout Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City.

Larry lived an extraordinary life and was full of love. A man born connected to the sea, he was an avid outdoorsman. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially boating on the Class Act with his family and friends. He loved Alabama football (Roll Tide), and he enjoyed entertaining and delighted guests as a purveyor of fact, trivia and history.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Armstrong Family Home, 518 Bunkers Cove Road, with Reverend Clyde Ellison and Dr. Craig Conner officiating. The family will receive friends at their home from 3 – 4 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Panama City, P.O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32402 or to the American Cancer Society, 4001 W 23rd Street, Suite C, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Larry Eugene Armstrong.
