Kenneth Calvin McGill (more affectionately known as Kenny, Dad, Grandpa, and Captain) 74, of Panama City, FL passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 5, 2021. He was born on December 19, 1946 in Greenville, AL and moved to Panama City in 1956.  Kenny attended and graduated from Bay High School in 1965.  Shortly thereafter he joined the United States Air Force Reserves and served during the Vietnam War. He later received his B.S. degree in marine biology from the University of West Florida and began teaching at Everitt Middle School.  Kenny loved teaching and investing in students.  He worked hard to provide his students with hands on/real world experiences.  In 2006 Kenny retired from the Bay County School System finishing his tenure at Rutherford High School.  Kenny was an avid outdoorsman with a special passion for hunting and fishing.  Kenny loved spending time in God's creation with family and friends.  He could often be found on the water or in the woods teaching the next generation about his passion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larkin Devon (L.D.) and Evelyn McGill, and his daughter Katelyn Rae McGill. He is survived by his wife, Avis Cockcroft McGill; one son, Ricky McNaron, daughter in law Tonilea McNaron; three grandchildren, Maylea McNaron, Jase McNaron, Kyle McNaron; brother, Bobby McGill; and good friend and caregiver, Paige McCallum. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 11 am at the First Baptist Church of Panama City with Dr. Craig Conner and Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10-11 am prior to the service.
