Kathryn Kuykendall "Kitty" Clark, age 93, of Panama City Beach, passed away on Thursday morning, April 2, 2015. She was born on October 26, 1921 in Guin, Alabama to parents John & Dona Kuykendall. She married James P "Jim" Clark, Jr on April 25, 1942, and they celebrated 71 years. Mrs. Clark began her career as a Federal Civil Servant in 1944. After many years working all over the world as a "war bride," she and Jim settled in Panama City where she worked at NSWC PCD (then called the Mine Defense Laboratory) in 1960 as a GS-4 secretary. Mrs. Clark's energy and competence helped her rise throughout her career at PCD, serving as Acting Public Affairs Officer by the time of her retirement in 1997 with over 45 years of federal service. She was a trailblazer; she promoted all women - young and old and laid the foundation so that anyone could become (GS) 12s, 13s, or whatever she wanted to be. Her vivaciousness and heart never diminished; even up to her final moments she declared, "Life is good!" She was a member of the Woodlawn United Methodist Church for 40+ years, and a number of a number of civic organizations, including toastmasters, ABWA, DWC, and Golden Girls.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Kimball Clark; parents; and siblings Maynard, Mitt, Pat, Vivian, Zebella, John, and Gerald.
She is survived by grandchildren, Katie, Daniel, and Kelsea; great grandchildren, Willow and Sarah; special nieces and nephews, Mitzi, Donna, Kathy, John, Dickey (Janis), Marsha, Al, Kenny and many other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service, and a celebration of life reception will follow the graveside service at Woodlawn UMC.
