Kathryn Novella Ballentine Wilkes
Kathryn, age 88, died on June 1, 2011, at a local nursing facility. She was born on January 24, 1923, in Dawson, Alabama, to Mae and Elmer Ballentine. She attended high school in Geraldine, Alabama. Prior to moving to Panama City in 1969, Kathryn lived in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Her joy in life was caring for her home, children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Wilkes, Sr., and her daughter, Connie Wilkes. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Wooddall of Griffin, Georgia, her sons, Robert (Eileen) and Rick (Amy) of Lynn Haven, Florida. Other survivors include two sisters, Vera Kelly of Dallas, Texas, Vanessa
(David) Barry of Anniston, Alabama, and one brother, Marty Ballentine of Fairburn, Georgia, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Virgil Tillman officiating. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.
