Kathleen Pilcher Vance, of Panama City, Florida passed away on July 27th, 2024, with her family by her side. She was 87 years old.
Kathleen was born on October 25th, 1936, in Panama City to M.R. "Pete" and Elaine Pilcher. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Vance.
Kathleen is survived by her sister Ruth Pilcher Lark, her brother-in-law William E. Lark Sr., Niece Mary Elaine Lark Jolly (Robert), Nephew William E. Lark Jr. (Mandy), and Great Nieces and Nephews Rob Jolly, Ruthie Jolly, Lawsie Jolly, Hunter Lark, Mary Marie Lark, and William Lark.
Kathleen attended Panama Grammar and Bay High Schools. She graduated from Florida State University with degrees in Latin, Spanish and French and a master's degree in library science. She received her master's degree in French at the French Institute while living in Madrid.
Kathleen was a teacher at Bay High School, Newnan High School and was librarian at The College of Charleston. She later became a faculty member at Mosley High School.
She was an avid card player and lifelong learner and reader. Kathleen was strongly opinionated and was quick to share her opinion with love and kindness.
Kathleen loved to celebrate the success and achievement of her family and friends, always being loyal and supportive. She enjoyed learning and experiencing new things, especially good food.
The family would like to express our thanks to her compassionate caregivers BJ, Fayon, Kerlet, and Janelle.
A visitation will be held Wednesday July 31st at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Panama City.
