JULIE ANN SIKES ALBERT
(1969 – 2026)
After an extended battle against a chronic illness, Julie passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026 with her family by her side. Loved by so many with her winning personality and bright smile, Julie made friends wherever life took her ~ even at the many hospitals she went to for help.
Born and raised in Panama City, Julie graduated from Bay High in 1987. At the College of Charleston, she received a Bachelor’s degree and was a member of the Tri Delta sorority. She received a second Bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and a Master’s degree from the University of West Florida.
As a professional, Julie worked for Solvay Pharmaceuticals as a sales representative and for Pensacola psychiatrist, Dr. Lynn Lightfoot, as a psychometrist. Her interest in medical issues continued throughout her lifetime.
Julie married John Albert of Atmore, Alabama which, to our delight, broadened our family circle with wonderful in-laws. Julie and John’s pride and joy is their son Jack. As a family, they enjoyed living in Pensacola with the beach close-by. They also enjoyed traveling, celebrating special occasions and especially days at The Albert Farm. Julie believed having a special son like Jack to be her greatest accomplishment.
Julie loved all of her friends! Her lifelong friend, Julie Cofer Franklin, was more like a sister. They have stuck together through thick and thin. They were a force.
She is survived by John and Jack, her parents Lamar and Patty Sikes, her mother-in- law Thelma Albert of Atmore, Alabama, her brothers Hugh Sikes (Lee Ann) and Joe Sikes (Ashley). Her nieces and nephews include Ashton Sikes, Carson Sikes, Madison Sikes, Ansley Sikes, Joseph Sikes and Campbell Sikes. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Joe and Claire Parrott, Hubert and Rosalie Sikes, and her father-in-law Joseph Rohanna Albert.
The family is touched by the love and support we have received since Julie’s passing. There is no substitute in life for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Julie’s memory may be made to the Interstitial Cystitis Association, 388 South Main Street, Suite 440 - #157, Akron, Ohio 44311 or to the First United Methodist Church, 822 East Highway 98, Panama City, Florida 32401.
Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 – 10:30 Tuesday morning, June 2nd, at Wilson’s Funeral Home, 214 Airport Road, Panama City. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 3733 North Highway 231, Panama City, at 11:00.
