Obituary

Judith (Richards) Dandis, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and renowned watercolor artist, passed away on March 9, 2025 at the age of 92. A creative force and a deeply cherished member of her family, she leaves behind a legacy of love, artistry, and warmth that will be treasured for generations.

Judy was a gifted watercolor painter whose work was celebrated throughout the Southeastern United States. Over the years, she earned numerous accolades, including "Best of Show," "Judges' Choice," and "Artist's Choice," a testament to her immense talent and dedication to her craft. Her art was not just a profession but a passion—one she eagerly shared with her loved ones and regularly showcased her work at area art shows. She found joy in the beauty of the world around her.

Above all, Judy was devoted to her family. She was a guiding light, always present with a warm smile, a kind word, and an open heart. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Alexandrous J. Dandis; her son, Jon Michael Dandis; her parents, Lila Mae Moore Richards and James Maxwell Richards of Jasmine Hills, Wetumpka, Alabama; and her brother, James Maxwell (Mac Jr.) Richards II of Panama City Beach, Florida. Those who knew her take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with them. She is survived by her devoted daughter Denise (Dandis) Miller and her loving son-in-law Joel Miller of Panama City Beach. She was a cherished grandmother to Shelli (Thrasher) Swendrowski and her husband Ross Swendrowski of Lynn Haven, Carrie (Miller) Mang and her husband Mike Mang of Tampa, and Lydia (Miller) Davis and her husband Chris Davis of Lynn Haven. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren Kaitlin (Hood) Horn and her husband Jordan Horn, Madison Mang, Gavin Rose, Michael Mang II, Peyton Davis, Mason Davis, and Rowan Mang, as well as her great-great-grandchildren Jameson Horn and Joseph Horn. She is also survived by her sister, Charlotte (Jordan) Thrash, aunt Colleen Furlong, niece Jennifer (Jordan) Campbell and cousin Joanne (Bonner) McCallum.

Judy's family was her greatest joy, and the love she poured into each of them will remain in their hearts forever. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

A private graveside service will be held for family to honor her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Bay County School Arts Program.
