Judge (RET) Larry Ashmore Bodiford, 81, of Panama City passed away on January 3, 2021, from complications of Parkinson's Disease. He was born on July 28, 1939 to Sarah Ashmore and J C Bodiford.

After graduating from Bay High School, class of 1957, he attended Gulf Coast Community College. After serving in the Army Reserve, Larry returned to college and graduated from Florida State University in 1964 with a degree in government. Upon graduating, he attended Stetson University College of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1967. Returning to Panama City, he entered his family's law practice. In 1971, Larry was appointed Bay County Judge by the Governor. He later became a Circuit Judge serving the 14 ^th Judicial Circuit. He ended his judicial career as the Part-Time Federal Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Florida from 1985-2016. While serving as a Federal Magistrate, he reentered the private practice of law as a partner in the law firm of Hutto and Bodiford. He retired from the practice in December, 2019.In addition to his law career, Larry was active in various civic clubs and served as President of the Downtown Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Case Ashmore Bodiford; brothers, T.J. Bodiford and C. Fredrick Bodiford; and nephews, Kent Saunders and Michael Bodiford.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Whitehead Bodiford; daughter in law, Samantha Thornsberry Bodiford; granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Bodiford; brother, Charles Mayo Bodiford (Kitti); sister, Harriet Jernigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
