Juanita Hoover McNiel, 95, of Panama City, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.  She was born October 16, 1928 in Wilcox County, Georgia and had been a resident of Panama City since 1942.  She was a 1945 graduate of Bay High School.  She was a retired store manager at Lerner's.  She was a member of the St. Andrew Baptist Church; the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah's Odd Fellows.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Aubrey McNiel; her son, Joe Alan McNiel; her granddaughter, Marla Mason; her sisters, Muriel Canning, Martha Boggs and a brother, Ronald Hoover.  She is survived by two daughters, Jan McNiel Nelson, Amy McNiel Mason (Ed); daughter-in-law, Mary McNiel; brother, Donald Hoover (Mary); grandchildren, Ashley McNiel, Alan McNiel (Rachel), Christopher Nelson, Jamie Smith, Eric Nelson (Kristen), Patrick Nelson (Mary), Joseph Smith, Alex Mason (Beth), Jerod Mason; great grandchildren, Dominic, Dillon, Jacob, Emily, Jonathan, Benjamin, Bailee, Austin, Abbilyn, Charlie, Benjamin and numerous nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 1 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 24. 2024 from 5-7 p.m.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gleaners Sunday School Class. Those desiring may make memorial donations to St. Andrew Baptist Church in memory of Juanita McNiel.
