Joyce Gatward Streit, 91, of Lynn Haven passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015. She was born on September 1, 1923 in London, England. She was married to William Streit on September 9, 1944 in England, where he was flying combat missions in Europe. They returned to the United States on the Queen Mary in November 1944. She was retired from the Pinellas County School System in Clearwater, Florida as a secretary and bookkeeper and moved to Panama City in 1978. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the LLL Sunday School Class and a former member of the Sanctuary choir for 30 years. She was also a member of the Tyndall Officers Club and a volunteer at Bay Medical Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband William; mother and father, Elizabeth and Walter Gatward; two sisters, Florence Hodges and Elsie Sayer. Joyce is survived by one son, Stephen John Streit (Lois) of Asheboro, N.C.; two grandchildren, Debbie Joy Swaney (Chad), David John Streit (Rebecca); three great grandchildren, Julia Nicole Streit, Nathan Chad Swaney, Huxley Jackson Streit and numerous nieces and nephews in England, Canada, and Australia. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
