Josephine Houchin, 96, passed away peacefully in her home on June 10th, 2024. Josephine was born in Dothan, AL, but moved to Panama City when she was 14. She went to Bay High and worked as a canteen girl at the shipyard where she met my dad, Kenneth Paul Nichols, he was in the Navy and he chased her down until she said yes to marriage. Josephine worked and retired from Sears after 25 years, devoting herself to her family. Josephine was predeceased by her children's father, Father Kenneth P. Nichols and husband, William C. Houchin. Her parents Huey and Leona Moore; sisters, Mable Charrett, Shirley Griffin; brothers, Max, Billie Joe, Earl and Cecil Moore and her youngest daughter, Barbara Slater. Left to cherish her memories is her daughters, Gail Nichols Hogg (George), Brenda Blackwell (Jacob); granddaughters, Rhonda Clark, Christine Watford (Robert), Tracey Blackwell; grandson, Jay Blackwell (Tammy); sister, Betty Hooks; brother, Ronnie Moore (Eunice); great grandchildren, Cody and Nicholas Watford and great granddaughter, Faith Blackwell. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 1 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12-1 pm prior to the service.
