Joseph Louis Ashbrook, 84, of Panama City, passed away Monday, January 26, 2009. He was born April 17, 1924 in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Florida State University. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, he was an instructor at Gulf Coast Community College for seven years and then worked at the Bay County Property Appraisers Office for 15 years. He was a member of the Heritage Bible Church, the Northside Rotary Club and the Reserve Officers Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ogden & Rose Davis Ashbrook and a grandson, Robert Paul Groeteke. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Ashbrook, son, Joseph A. Ashbrook and wife Connie, of Lynn Haven, two daughters, Ginny Groeteke and husband Bob, of Jacksonville, Kim Adams and husband Robert, of Hobbs, New Mexico, six grandchildren, Michael Groeteke and wife Nicole, of Jacksonville, Matthew Groeteke and wife Jackie, Justin Ashbrook and wife Holli, all of Orlando, Brianne Biddle and husband Mark, of Panama City, Kyle Adams, Kevin Adams both of Hobbs, New Mexico, seven great grandchildren, Matthew Darnell, Joshua Biddle, Trent Ashbrook, Kendra Ashbrook, Drake Groeteke, Gage Groeteke and Raiden Groeteke. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Henry Hazard and Rev. Brian Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Heritage Bible Church Building Fund, 3380 State Avenue, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Joseph L. Ashbrook.
