It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jonathan Sturgill. Jonathan entered his peaceful rest Monday, August 19, 2024 in Panama City, FL. Jonathan Hunter was born May 10, 1985 in Pensacola, FL.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Daniel Sturgill, Henry Slonina, and Melba Baas and brother Christopher Sturgill. Also, his Aunt Susan Slonina and cousin Ashley Slonina.

Jonathan is survived by his parents: Janice Slonina and David and Vickie Sturgill. Also, grandparents: Marjorie Slonina, Jane Sturgill, and Ron Baas. Uncles: Rickie Sturgill (Julie), James Slonina (Rosemary), Stephen Slonina, Aunt: Dani Atkins (Kenneth), and numerous cousins and friends.

While Jonathan's life was short, he lived his life every day to the fullest. At the age of six, he joined Tiger Cubs. His scouting experience included merit badges, camping trips, high adventure scouting trips in Philmont, New Mexico and Sea Base Big Pine Key, Fl.  Jonathan earned scouting's highest honor of Eagle Scout at the age of seventeen. He also earned the rank of first-degree black belt in the discipline of Tae Kwon Do, a sport he enjoyed with his dad. Jonathan's artistic ability was one of his most endearing qualities.  His talent excelled through his stories, artwork, and creative lifestyle. His life long love was reading.  Jonathan's love for animals was evident when you watched his interaction with his fur babies.   When you think of Jonathan, please remember the times he made you smile.

Services will be Friday, August 23, 2024 at St Dominic Catholic Church located at 3308 E 15th Street, Panama City, FL 32405. Visitation will start at 1:00 P.M. Services will begin at 2:00 P.M. with Father Anthony Nguyen officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery located at 4799 County Road 389, Lynn Haven, FL 32444.
