Johnny Rayford Landingham went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2019. He was 81 years old. He is preceded in death by his precious wife Elizabeth Annette Cotton Landingham; parents Ralph Gilbert and Vassie Mae Landingham of Lynn Haven, Florida; brother, George Harlon Landingham of Coffee Springs, Alabama; sister, Helen Nadine Farris and brother in-law Samuel David Farris of Elba, Alabama.
Survivors include brothers Robert Lee Landingham (Mary) of Lynn Haven, Florida and Rex Gilbert Landingham (Regina) of Palmer, Alaska; sons Dennis Randall Landingham (Kay) and Danny Wayne Landingham (Pam); grandchildren Joshua Randall Landingham, Megan Catherine Watson (Kyle), and Mallory Elizabeth Landingham; sister in-law Arlene Landingham Jones; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Johnny was employed by Sunshine Grocery Company for many years. He also worked for Goodwill Industries and retired from the Bay County Sheriff's Department where he served for twelve years as a warrants officer.
Johnny became a Christian at a young age and was baptized into the Primitive Baptist Church. When he married Elizabeth, they joined Cove Baptist Church and later moved to First Baptist Church in Lynn Haven. They also attended Chipley Blue Side Church where he was ordained as a deacon in 1965. When the family moved to Perry, Florida Johnny became active in the Gideons Organization. In 1972, he moved the family back to Lynn Haven where he and Elizabeth taught Youth for several years. Johnny was an avid fisherman and he had a long list of friends who loved to go fishing with him. Everything in the saltwater – grouper, red snapper, red, flounder, and trigger fish – all called his name. Everyone will miss him. Memorial services will be held on Saturday February 16, 2019 at 11 am at Living Word Fellowship, 500 East 19th Street, Panama City, FL. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 am prior to the service.
