Johnnie Broxson who was a lifetime resident of Callaway, Florida went to be with his beloved wife, Joyce Broxson in Heaven on Saturday, April 2, 2011.
Johnnie was born on October 2, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hamilton and Stella Broxson, brother, Junior Broxson, sisters, Thelma Broxson, Nora Lee Burkett, Vera Mae Goodwin, Helen Gore, Inez Canter, Elizabeth Fowler and son-in-law, Sam Bass.
Johnnie served his country in the U.S. Army as a young man. His lifetime career was as a longshoreman for 50 years at Port Panama City. He loved and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He was a devoted proud Husband, Daddy and PawPaw. He was a loving man who never met a stranger. He loved the Bay; fishing and picnicking with his family was his passion. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was in his words, his heart.
He leaves behind a large loving family to cherish his memory, 6 children, Johnny Ray, Linda Sanders (Terry), Carol Bass (the late Sam), Johnny Joseph Broxson Jr. (Sandy), Tony Broxson (Sue), Missy Hartzog (Greg); 16 grandchildren, Christy Ray, Felecia Ray, J. Ray, Leslie Ray, Katrina Piercy, Edward Piercy, Charles Piercy, Richard Piercy, Kevin Bass, Samantha Bass, Tyler Broxson, Nicole Broxson, Josh Broxson, Matthew Hartzog, Mark Hartzog, Luke Hartzog; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Lela Hicks, Cora Lee Fowler, Oneida Bruner and Lily Mae Hagans; and brother, David Broxson.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Lynn Haven Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Reed, Tim Batyski, Scott Burkett, Ronald Fowler, Donald Fowler and Donald Ray Bruner. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
