JOHN WILLIAM YINGLING

John William ("Mr. John") Yingling, 82, of Lynn Haven, Florida died at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at home.

He was born in Adamstown, Maryland on September 25, 1925 to William and Edith Yingling. He served in the Air Force during World War II and during the Korean Conflict specializing in radar. After graduating from the University of Miami in 1959, he worked with Hughes Aircraft Company as an electrical engineer for the Test Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base for 16 years; he later worked for Hughes Aircraft in San Antonio, Texas and Denver, Colorado.

He belonged to the White Whale Diving Unit at Tyndall Air Force Base and enjoyed spear-fishing. John was a square dancer for 10 years with several clubs, including the Swingin' Squares. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling the United States and working out at the Health Plex with the many friends he made.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Ruth M. Yingling, his sisters, Jean Yingling of Adamstown, Maryland and Joyce Hinder of Bel Aire, Maryland; his children, Jan P. (Rick) Helfand of Rosemary Beach, Florida; Jill K (Jim) Satterwhite of Gulf Breeze, Florida and John T. Yingling of Southport, Florida; his step-children, Frankie Tibbetts (Hugh) Perego of Nederland, Texas and Kellie Tibbetts (Randy) DeMary of Beaumont, Texas; his grandson, Joshua J. Satterwhite and step-grandsons, David K. Perego of Austin, Texas, and Justin P. DeMary of Beaumont, Texas and a step-great-granddaughter, Lauryn R. Perego in Nederland, Texas.

A visitation will be held at noon on Saturday, October 27th at Wilson Funeral Home with a Memorial Service to follow at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Road, Houston, Texas 77030, American Heart Association, 205 Forest Park Circle, Panama City, FL 32405 or Emerald Coast Hospice, 2925 Martin Luther King Blvd, Panama City, FL 32405 would be appreciated.
