Obituary

John Vincent Van Dalen, 68, of Lynn Haven, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on, Tuesday, September 15, 2015, after a brief illness. Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to John and Victoria (Minucci) Van Dalen, John graduated from Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, N.J., and Strayer Business College, in Washington, D.C.

In 1982 John and his wife, Linda, moved to Panama City Beach to start a business with his sister and brother-in-law. John was a wonderful husband, father, and brother, uncle, and cousin. He especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and going to FSU football games with his son, Johnny. He was a gifted musician and enjoyed playing guitars, keyboards, and singing with friends. John worked for many years at Bay Credit Union and with General Dynamics and was currently employed with Cetacean Marina of Panama City Beach.

John was predeceased by his parents, Victoria and John Van Dalen. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda, and by his son, John V. "Johnny" Van Dalen, III. He is also survived by his sister, Joan "Bunny" Essig, her husband, Allen, of Ocala, FL, and his nephew, Allen, Jr., of Panama City Beach, FL. He is also survived by special aunts, Molly Stanziola and Alberta (Ed) Gladdis, both of New Jersey. He is also survived by his favorite cousin, Frank Stanziola (Debbie) of Delaware. Left to mourn his death are also Garry Bradley (Bonnie) of Waynesboro, VA, Beth Lipphardt (Peter), of Suffolk, VA, Jeffery Bradley, of Waynesboro, VA, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Lindsey Adams, and her daughter, Lacey, of Panama City Beach.

A celebration of John's life will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at the Wilson Funeral Home at 214 Airport Road in Panama City. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 W.19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405, or to the Gulf Coast State College Foundation, 5230 W. Highway 98, Panama City, FL 32401, for the benefit of the GCSC Athletic Department.
