LCDR John E. Pearson

LCDR John E. Pearson, a retired Naval Aviator and Vietnam War Veteran, passed away on Thursday, November 28th, surrounded by family and friends at his home in Panama City.

Born in Bronx, New York in on May 27, 1933, he is a graduate of the Evander Child's High School. John enlisted in the Navy in 1952, earning his wings in 1954. He flew more than 5500 hours, and made more than 850 carrier landings. He proudly served two tours in the Vietnam War, and was awarded numerous Air Medals for his bravery.

Mr. Pearson moved to Panama City Beach in 1986 and was involved in many volunteer projects. He was the Creator and Producer of the Senior for Senior television show with his wife Georgia. The show has aired for more than 15 years and won numerous awards and recognition, including the "2001 Media on Senior Living" and the "Aging with Dignity" award for Television Journalism.

John Pearson was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Elizabeth Pearson Adams. He is survived by his wife, Georgia T. Henry Pearson, of Panama City; son, Mark Pearson, of Gaithersburg, Maryland; brother, George Pearson of Hockessin, Delaware and sister, Carol DeBree of Travelers Rest, South Carolina. He had two grandchildren, Haylee Grey and Graham Louis; and three step sons, Craig, Grant and Mike Henry.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, December 5th at 11 a.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 214 Airport Rd, Panama City.
