Obituary

John Mack Jones, 73, of Panama City, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018. He was born July 27, 1944 in Andalusia, Alabama to Vaughn and Gladys Jones. He was a Bronze Star decorated Vietnam Veteran. He retired, after 35 years of civil service with Tyndall Air Force Base and Naval Surface Warfare Center. He enjoyed his post-retirement jobs driving for Register Enterprises, and Dana Transport. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, for 43 years, Margie Carol Jones. Also preceding him in death were his two brothers, James Jones and Fred Jones, and his sister, Dorothy Peak. He is survived by a son, Scott Jones (Elissa); daughter, Christy Morcate (Joe); three grandchildren, Jared Jones, Kelly Jones, and Jackson Morcate, and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a strong, hard working man of character. He gave openly of himself to help those in need. There was nothing he could not build, fix, or grow. He was an endearing husband, father, uncle, and Papa. He loved deeply, and with his whole heart. His absence will be immense within the lives of many. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1pm in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Virgil Tillman officiating. Internment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8pm. Active pallbearers will be Jared Jones, Kenneth Jones, Jimmy Jones, Matt Moore, Neel Campbell, and Kolby Maddox. Honorary Pallbearers are Jay Wilson, Clarence Hand, Dennis Haddock, Marion Daniels, and Bunyan Thomas.
