JOHN A. JAY
John A. Jay, 80, of Panama City, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 in his home. He was born November 15, 1929 in Andalusia, Alabama. He was a retired General Contractor and Master Carpenter. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church, an ordained deacon and Sunday School teacher, and served faithfully on many committees during his life this side of Heaven. He was also a member of the Parker Masonic Lodge #142. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He most loved spending time with his family and friends, and could always be counted on to tell a tall tale or two. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy David Jay; sister, Frances Meints; and brother, Ernest Jay, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Jay; 3 children, John Craig Jay and wife, Terri, Brenda Paris and husband, Les, Jeffrey Jay and wife, Shayne; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Jay, Jon David Jay, Holly Walker, Katie Barker, Rick Sebastian, Jessica Paris, Shelby Jay, John Brycen Jay, Colten Jay, Ally Jay, Cade Jay; 3 great grandchildren, Kaden Jay, Finley Barker, Reagan Jay; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Skinner. A graveside service will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday in Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Luther Stanford and Pastor Mike Thornton officiating. The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Home on Monday from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. prior to the service. Active pallbearers are Matthew Jay, Jon David Jay, Brycen Jay, Colten Jay, Jack Daniels, and Matt Riemer. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Higdon, Daylon Williams, and members of The Steadfast Sunday School Class of Northside Baptist Church.
