John Gregory Dudley, 64, passed away peacefully in his Lynn Haven home, surrounded by family and friends on December 3 rd , 2017. Born and raised in Millville, he was a lifelong resident of Bay County, Florida.
Simply known as "Greg", he was well known throughout the community as an avid angler who was passionate about being on the water. He was often happiest with a fishing pole, cast net, or oyster knife in hand. Greg spent much of his life as both a commercial fisherman and boat captain. He was also commonly said to be a "Jack of all Trades" due to his ability to take on nearly any task with expert skill and precision. From duct work, to roofing, to boat building, to mechanic work, and all the way into an expert chef, Greg was a highly intuitive man who showed great passion and attention to detail in all of his work.
Greg's legacy lives on within his two daughters, both of which he was incredibly proud of, Michelle Dudley Holland (Scott Moore) of Houston, Texas and Jonelle Dudley (Mike Womble) of Tallahassee, Florida. He is also survived by: his adoring 90 year old mother, Frances Dudley; his two beloved sisters, Barbara Weeks (Andrew) and Renee Bush (Daniel); his nephew Christopher Bush (Rebecca) and their three children C.J., Abigail, and Josh; and his niece, Amber Purser (Rich) and their two daughters Bella and Marlee; as well as his very special and dear friend, Elsie Purvis. Greg was preceded in death by his father, James Roy Dudley, Sr. and brother, James Dudley, Jr.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Covenant Hospice as well as those dear friends and loved ones who reached out and/or stopped by to see him in his final days. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.
