John Allen Clay was born July 20, 1950 in Panama City, Florida.  He graduated Rutherford High School (1969), US Army - Vietnam war veteran (1970-71), returned to live in Panama City where he met his wife (Rose).  John was a proud life member of the VFW (Parker Post 8205) and AMVETS (Callaway Post 2298).

John's favorite pastime was hanging out with friends and playing Ship, Captain, Crew at the VFW. He enjoyed playing the pull-tabs, listening to music, fishing, taking to pretty ladies, and spending time with family and friends .  John was always ready to help out a friend or someone in need and will be greatly missed.

After spending a month in the hospital battling COPD, John was able to return home through the help of Covenant Hospice where he spent his final months enjoying life. John passed away at home on Thursday, July 6, 2023, we will meet again in heaven my brother.

Preceding John in death is his wife, Rose Clay; parents,  Albert L. Clay and Beadie R. Clay;  brother, Bobby L. Clay.

John is survived by his sister, Donna Leonard; brother-in-law, Benny Leonard; brother, Richard Clay; sister-in-law, Mary Clay; nephews, Adam Poston (wife/ April) and David Poston (wife/ Jennifer)of whom he was very proud.

A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 2pm  at the VFW Parker Post 8205.
