Obituary

Joan Marie Phillips, 91, of Panama City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 in her home. Joan was born on June 11, 1934, the second daughter of Richard and Ida Lee in Ashland, Maine. She grew up in Presque Isle, Maine and graduated with honors from Presque Isle High School in 1952.

She worked as a bank teller until marrying her first husband, Nicholas Ciccarelli, in 1953 with whom she had three children. Joan was a devoted and loving wife and mother with a deep faith in God. She was active in Church and always put the Lord and family first. As an Air Force wife, she demonstrated her loyalty to our country by supporting her husband in his military career. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed the sport well into her 80s. Nicholas passed in 1970. In 1971, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Mallory, an aircraft mechanic who started his own auto repair shop. They ran the successful business until Richard passed in 1981. She met and married her third husband, James "Bud" Phillips, in 1983, an Air Force firefighter. A long-time member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, she helped raise money to build the new church and served on the altar society. Bud passed in 2009. She maintained her active life and her faith in God deepened.

Joan loved to cook and was known by her friends for her flair with Italian food. She enjoyed playing games with her friends and family. She loved her family and always thought about others before herself.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Ida, her older sister, Helene Joyce, her infant son, Nicholas, and her husbands, Nicholas Ciccarelli, Richard Mallory and James "Bud" Phillips.

Joan leaves behind her younger sister, Shirlee Bodfield; her children, Joseph (Ciccarelli) and his wife Sandy, Victoria (Ciccarelli) and her husband, Crook Stewart, Richard (Mallory) and his wife, Linda, George (Mallory) and his wife, Tammy, and James "Himme" Phillips. Also grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.

Visitation for friends and family will be Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 6-8 pm at Wilson Funeral Home in Panama City , Florida. Funeral services will be Monday, August 25, 2025 at 10 am at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Interment follows at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
