Joan Gilbert Annis,89, of Atlanta, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 2024. She was born on October 27, 1934 in Panama City, FL to Mary Louise and Leslie Miller Gilbert Sr. She attended Panama Grammar School, was a graduate of Bay High School and attended the University of Florida for 2 years. She was the most loving mother to her three children. Joan was an artist, a builder, an animal advocate and was a humanitarian. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta. She also enjoyed doing clown skits with her Sunday school class at the nursing homes. She loved dancing the Jitterbug. Joan was known for her gourmet meals and homemade baked cakes. She was preceded in death by her son, Wesley Jack Annis; brother, Leslie Miller "Bubba" Gilbert Jr.; former husband, Wesley Jack Annis Jr. and her parents, Mr. & Mrs. L.M. Gilbert. She is survived by her two children, Steven Craig Annis, Leslie Joan Pennel; three grandchildren, Sam Weaver Pennel and wife, Amanda, Wesley Buck Pennel, Katheryn Malone Pennel Weaver and husband, Bret; seven great grandchildren, Eli Lucas Pennel, Emmie Jean Pennel, Jude Memphis Pennel, Josiah John Pennel, Jack Rowan Weaver, River Blue Weaver, Isla Boe Weaver. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 11 am in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 am prior to the service. Those desiring may make memorial donations to your favorite charity in memory of Joan Annis. She lived life with a zest and zeal her whole life. She excelled in life in all that she did. She was a cheerful giver "I like to give and help others because it is fun and it is a joy."
